Rising global food price is a cause of concern
Vishnu Mohan | 01 Jul 2011

Based on a analysis on this subject which is in the news. Price rice has become a major worry for all strata of society - not just in India but also across the world.

RISING FOOD prices worldwide is a cause of concern. Experts believe this is happening mainly due to two reasons as follows:

-         Some of the fertile lands have been diverted to producing plants that could generate fuel as a substitute to fossil fuel.

-         Commodities market trading by and large are unregulated because many of the funds that goes into this trading are not open for public. In most cases, while demand and supply remaining constant, it is the speculation element that drives the prices.

It will be in the best interest of every person living either in east or west or north or south to see food prices are available at affordable rates. Experts can do well to ensure more and more fertile lands are available for boosting up food production.  Additionally, some regulatory measures are to be in place to check excessive speculation in commodities markets because this market is worth trillions and roughly about 25 commodities come under its purview.
