Sabarimala Stampede tragedy 107 feared dead 140 injured

Pathanamthitta Superintendent of Police Sanjay Kumar told that the casualties may be more because more than 150 are injured and all were admitted at the Vandiperiyar hopital in Idukki district.

THE ANNUAL Makara Jyoti observed occasionally but turned into tragedy took around 107 pilgrims life and more than 150 injured at 8:10pm on 14th of Jan 2011 the devotees were maximum from Tamil Nadu and Andhra and 3 to 4 pilgrims from Kerala died on the major stampede occurred near Pullamedu and the place near Uppurara near Vandiperiyar.
 

The tragedy occurred due to massive Jam on roads as well as hill terrain were few vehicles took devotees and due to rush and overload overturn and slipped over the pilgrims and from there these major tragedy begins at night itself the Jeep which fells over pilgrims was the main reason of panic and due to over crowed and eager to come down from the foot hills of Sabarimala causes these tragedy in Kerala.

The tragedy took young as well as children life and due to these major accident of stampede the body of the dead pilgrims are brought at hospital were 20 postmortem are done at a time and more than 2 Lakhs pilgrims were present  to see Makara Jyoti at Sabarimala, the over crowed and an increase of 25% took difficult to manage and lastly turned in a major tragedy the Injured pilgrims rushed to the Kottayam Medical College as well as in Theni medical college

Union Defence Minister A.K.Antony ,Chief Minister of Kerala  along with Umman Chandy, Health Minister of  Kerala Sreemati condoles the death of pilgrims at Sabarimala. District administration along with revenue dept monitoring the incident spot
 The Government has to take appropriate steps in future by restricting the pilgrims to wait till morning at Sabarimala Sannithanam and on day time only the pilgrims should be released to there destination on day time due to night and over crowed lastly turn into tragedy and to avoid these type of tragedy returning in night after Makara Jyoti to be restrict by Government

District Administration sets the help line number for the families of the pilgrims for there help the number 04869-222049 and a special team of National disaster Response Force (NDRF) has been sent by central government for immediate rescue and operation.
