Salute the Indian Army
Priya Seht | 12 Jun 2009

Millions of promises are made and the welfare of the public is taken care of but no one pays heed to the life of the people who burn the mid night oil to ensure that we are happy

ONE OF the most important organs in ensuring security of a country is the Army and its related organs. The soldiers work round the clock to ensure that the common man is safe and sound. They are so selfless that we ought to learn something from them, in fact a lot.

Perspiring in the summers when the mercury soars up to more than 40 degree Celsius, these soldiers never think of their needs and work throughout the year for a smile on our faces. At the time of terror attacks, each one us was trying to reach our home as soon as possible and try to stay at home. But someone was there who dare to be there on the field, ensuring the security of his people.  The Kargil War is one of the strong examples for those who take India as a soft target.

In Kargil war Indian Army proved that no one can mess with India. The courage of Indian soldier is unbeatable and the love and dedication for the country precious. They are the real sons of the nation. They are happy with what they are getting. They never complain about their needs. Our ministers travel in bulletproof cars and high security guards around them, loaded with all the comfort and luxury, sitting in there cozy air-conditioned seminar room, little do they know what it takes to be out there. In times of war, you see a soldier with blood stains on his clothes with a smile on his face.

Whereas, our ministers are just busy changing cloths. Our brave armymen pledge that they will serve the nation and follow the commands of seniors till there last breath, and they live upto their pledge. We talk about our soldiers at the time of Independence day, Republic Day or at the time of attacks, but what happens to all the other days of the year.  A country that refuses to respect its armed forces will eventually end up getting forces that will not respect the nations' aspirations. This is the result why today our youngsters are more interested in singing talent show or some reality game show.

Today we are fighting on baseless issues. Things which should not be given even a single thought. If we truly love our soldiers then we should be caring about them, the way they are. We get fascinated by eight pack abs and work out to get the same but we never gave a second thought to the strength and will power of our soldiers. They should be provided with sufficient leave and proper facilities. Millions of promises are made and the welfare of the public is taken care of but no one pays heed to the life of the people who burn the mid night oil to ensure that we are happy. I salute every soldier of our nation.
