Saragarhi Martyrs remembered - Unique sacrifice of Saragarhi martyrs is source of inspiration of us

Thousands converged at historical Saragarhi Gurudawara at the annual memorial meeting organized to pay homage to the 21 valiant Sikh soldiers of 4 Sikh Regiment, who fought against more than ten thousand atrocious Afridis and Pathans at Saragarhi Post.

Janmeja Singh Sekhon, Cabinet Minister, Punjab, Kamal Sharma, President, Punjab BJP, Avtar Singh Minna, Chairman, Cooperative Bank Societies, Er. DPS Kharbanda, Deputy Commissioner, Ferozepur, Amit Kumar, ADC, Ferozepur, Sandip Singh, SDM, Ferozepur besides successors of the saragarhi martyrs, Army personals and many others paid tributes to these brave soldiers.

 

Dr.Rameshwar Singh highlighted the historical event of Saragarhi in sequence with special reference of soldiers of Sikh Regiment who sacrificed their lives. Addressing the mammoth gathering, Janmeja Singh Sekho said, the history of our country is full of unique sacrifices of 21 Sikhs of 4 Regiment in the battle of Saragarhi is daring feat of gallantry and devotion to duty, who were honoured with the highest bravery award of Indian Order of Merit.  He appealed to all to pledge on this auspicious day to maintain the unity and integrity of the nation by following the paths shown to us by the martyrs and patriots. 

Kamal Sharma paying tributes to the martyrs said, "Our nation is proud of sacrifice by martyrs." Appreciating the services being extended by the Indian army in flood affected areas in Jammu and Kashmir, he said, the people of the country are also proud of its high-spirited army.

Dr.DPS Kharbanda in his address said, today is the day to think it over to eradicate the drug menace from the Punjab by making a successful campaign, to fulfill the dreams of our martyrs.

Family members of the Saragarhi martyrs, ex-servicemen were honoured at the function. Various government departments like health and family welfare, horticulture, employment and industries put up their exhibitions and stalls on this occasion.
