Senior army officers interact with Chief Minister

A group of as many as 13 senior army officers led by Faculty -in-Charge Shri Anwar Haleem from Indian Foreign Services called on Chief Minister, Shri Virbhadra Singh at his official residence, Oak-Over here today. Chief Secretary, Shri V.C. Pharka was also present on the occasion.

As many as 10 Officers from Indian Army, Navy and Air-force, amongst three from Bangladesh, Malaysia and Japan, were undergoing special course on "National Security and Strategic Studies" in National Defence College, Delhi. They were on field visit to study the different aspects of socio-economic development, law and order, empowerment of women, health, agriculture, education, power and functioning of Non-Governmental Organizations, so as to get a picture of the cultural and social heritage of the State.  

They also interacted with the Chief Minister on various aspects of development including the social issues impacting HRD scenario and social harmony. They congratulated the Chief Minister for the massive development of hill state and initiatives taken for the betterment and welfare of Girl Child.  

            Shri Virbhadra Singh said that education was the foundation stone of development of any nation and Himachal Pradesh was first in terms of education amongst Big States and was awarded recently for Education and inclusive development by an independent agency in State of States Conclave. Progress made in the field of education and strengthening the same in fact is the foundation stone which has provided stability in developmental and growth, he said.  Development in agriculture, horticulture, tourism and field of education was also discussed. 

            These officers will also meet self help group in Shimla and few NGOs working at Dharamsala. Besides, they will also interact with senior officers at Secretariat.

Capt. Hiroaki Takeshima from Japan,  Shri Devendar Kumar, AFHQ-CS, Brigadier, A.K Ramesh, Brig. Rashmi Bali, VSM and SM, Brig. Sanjay Mitra, Brig. N.S Jadhav, Air Commodore, Anurag Joshi, Principal advisor Shri T.G Negi and Director HIPA Ms. Madhu Sharma.
