Senior BJP leader Ale Narendra died

Ale Narendra, senior leader of Bharatiya Janata Party died here on Wednesday. He was admitted at Nampally Care Hospital early on Wednesday as he was critically ill. He breathed his last at 4 p.m. on Wednesday.

Born on August 21, 1946 in Hyderabad, he was Swayamsevak from his early days and a full-timer in Bharateeya Jana Sangh, worked as Hyderabad City Organizing Secretary. He was arrested under MISA during emergency. He was also prominent trade union leader.

Hail from Hyderabad old city, due to his brave nature he is sometimes referred to as Tiger Narendra by his supporters. He used to stand for security of Hindus in Old City from communal forces. He was one of the pillar for initiating Ganesh Utsava Samithi, that celebrates Ganesh Chaturdashi festival every year in the city.


He also played active role in Janata Party and was state general secretary for Bharateeya Janata Party, He was ardent supporter for Telangana statehood. On this issue, he left BJP and launched a party called Telangana Sadhana Samthi (TSS), which later on merged with Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), on the invitation from its president K Chandrasekhar Rao.


In 1999 he elected to Lok Sabha from Medak constituency as BJP candidate and later in 2004 re-elected from here as TRS candidate. He was union minister of state for rural development for some time in UPA-I government. In 2011 he returned to BJP. Due to ill-health he was not taking active role in politics since some time.


Narendra is married to Lalitha. They have two sons and a daughter. His younger son was elected to the local corporation in 2009 GHMC municipal elections.
