Shri Ram Sena (SRS) Jammu and Kashmir state president Rajiv Mahajan has appealed the State Governor NN Vohra to make available a building for accommodating Institute of Music & Fine Arts (IMFA) Jammu in the interest of students and the staff of the institute who have been suffering on this account for the last 4 years due to the apathy of the previous government.
Rajiv Mahajan said that the students and staff of IMFA have been suffering for the last 4 years since their Institute building Poonch House at Talab Tillo developed cracks. Since then the Institute is on run and functioning in different private buildings to the discomfort of students and staff. Shri Ram Sena raised the issue a number of times with the previous higher education minister, previous vice chancellor Jammu University and previous pro- chancellor JU and chief minister Omar Abdullah but of no avail. It was once decided that the IMFA will be accommodated in University campus but that scheme has gone astray for reasons best known to the men at the helm of affairs. Again the scheme for accommodating the Institute in old university campus at Canal was made and that too eat the dust and nothing happened till date. The Institute at present is running in Luthra building- a private building at Talab Tillo. Mahajan said it is very estrange that a prestigious institute under the University of Jammu is without accommodation for so many years. Mahajan alleged that this all is due to the biased treatment of Kashmiri leaders who cannot see the development of Jammu people. Mahajan appealed the Governor to look into the matter seriously and issue orders for providing building to the institute. He also appealed the Governor to issue orders for starting post graduate courses in Music & Fine Arts in Jammu University.
