The AIADMK leader Edappadi K Palaniswami who was sworn in as Tamil Nadu's CM on February 16 would be seeking a vote of confidence in the assembly at 11am on february 18 as directed the state governor.
Palaniswami had staked the claim as CM by reporting the support of 124 MLAs. However, swearing-in of Palaniswami as the CM has raised tensions in the TN since the party cadre and workers has got divided between Sasikala and Panneerselvam camps.
It has been reported that a majority AIADMK MLAs of Sasikala camp was still made to stay at a resort in Koovathur till Saturday and would be attending the vote of confidence on the floor of the TN assembly.
Meanwhile, the Panneerselvam camp has 'removed' Sasikala, TTV Dinakaran and S Venkatesh from the 'Party'. According to Panneerselvam-loyalist Madusudhanan, since Sasikala has been indulging in anti-party activities and also has several criminal cases pending against her, therefore she has been 'removed' from the party.
Further, some AIADMK MPs have approached the Election Commission and informed that Sasikala's appointment as party chief was not in accordance with the party's constitution.
