A toll-free number and email facility launched to check irregularities in Aasara scheme
The Telangana government has decided to check corruption and irregularities in the Aasara social security pension scheme by providing a toll-free number and an email facility to public for receiving suggestions and complaints.
In letters addressed separately to elected representative of local bodies, including MPTC and ZPTC members and officials such as special officers, municipal commissioners and Zilla Parishad chief executives on Friday, Minister for Panchayat Raj and Rural Development K.T. Rama Rao stated that the initiatives were taken to implement the Aasara scheme transparently.
He asked the people to call on the toll-free number 18002001001 or send mails email@example.com provide information regarding irregularities.
He assured that confidentiality would be maintained in the process. Stating that 28 lakh pensions were sanctioned so far, the Minister reiterated that the government was spending over Rs. 4,000 crore on the scheme every year.
Mr. Rama Rao said the complaints and suggestions could also be given directly to the Chief Executive Officer of the Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty (SERP) at Hyderabad.
