The prestigious Solar Project in Telangana State, worth 1000 MW capacity, was initially sought to be set up in Gattu mandal of Mahbubnagar district.
A MOU was signed among the Solar Energy Corporation of India, APIIC and NREDCAP in February this year. Due to an unforeseen hurdle, when the land shown by the APIIC (now TSIIC) was discovered as assigned land, the officials forced to search for alternate site for the project, as the State government is not willing to acquire the land by paying compensation to the assignees.
The Officials found 1000 acres of government land in INdravelli of Adilabad district. The land would be enough only for 200 MW, considering the each MW of solar power installations requires 5 acres of land. The State government is reportedly spreading the intended capacity over different places in the Adilabad district.
The Telangana Chief Minister is likely to inspect the land identified during his visit to the district today.
The park is to be built on plug and play model which would make it easier for the solar developers to set up plants in a short duration of time.
