Temples protection movement request telangana government a speedy action
TR. Madhavan | 09 Dec 2014

Dr. M. V. Soundararajan, covenor of Temple Protection Movement, in a statement has said that, the draconian 30/87 Endowments Act and non-implementation of the Supreme Court orders has resulted in the impoverishment of lakhs of Archaka families and dilapidation of thousand of temples.

Notably a large number of neglected temples are in the Telangana state. Soundararajan urged the Telangana Government to take speedy action for discussion and resolution on the floor of the Assembly to realise the State's share of the arrears due from Tirupathi Tirumala Devasthanam (TTD) to the Religious Charitable Endowments Funds to the tune of about Rs. 1000 crore, as per A P State Reorganisation Act, 2014, specified that all religious charitable and endowments funds be apportioned between two successor States on the basis of population ratio.

It is sad that, the matter was not taken up the Government and no statement was also made with related the issue when the Assembly was in session.
