The inherent laziness in man is responsible for much progress
Satbir Singh Bedi | 28 Aug 2014

It may sound an oxymoron but inherent laziness in man is responsible for much progress that mankind has made. The man because of his laziness did not want to walk for miles and carry the load. So, he invented wheel cart and later on bicycle.

The man did not want to swim the river due to his laziness and invented the boat.  Then the man was tired of cutting through the mountains because of his laziness and invented gun powder and dynamite. Gunpowder and dynamite, of course, helped in war. On account of his laziness, the man did not want to do so many calculations and this led to the invention of calculators and later computers.

Similarly, the lazy man did not want to write long letters in hand and this led to the invention of typewriters, electronic typewriters and later on of computers as already stated above.  Man because of his inherent laziness was tired of carrying inkpot to fill up ink in his pen and this led to the invention of ball point pen.

Man was tired of carrying coins in bags to other places.  So, he invented  currency papers and when he found carrying of currency papers too cumbersome, he invented credit cards, ATM cards, etc. The agriculturist man found it too hard to plow fields with bullocks and this led to the invention of the tractors.

To cut a long story short, man has been resorting to automation in every field so that he does not have to work hard.  That is why cell phones are so much in demand.  Now, the man being inherently lazy is taking the major step of developing robots who would work for him and he would sit idle.  Let us watch.
