A two-day "International Symposium on Excellence in Public Service / Public Administration" is being in New Delhi on October 7 and 8, informs a PIB release. Inaugurated by the union minister Dr. Jitendra Singh, the symposium aims to showcase and learn from the global best practices in public administration and public service delivery.
Both, the Government of India and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) are jointly hosting the event. It is being envisaged that the event will foster a spirit of excellence in public administration and governance as well as facilitate replication of high impact initiatives.
According to the organizers of the event, the speakers from around 25 countries will present their best practices and reform initiatives under the themes such as the global best practices in public administration reforms; improving the delivery of public services; advancing knowledge management in government/promoting whole of government approaches in the information age; promoting gender responsive delivery of public services ; improving transparency, accountability and responsiveness in public service.
From India, the participants include the senior officers and representatives from Central and State Government, International Organizations, Central and State Training Institutions. It is hoped that Indian participants and delegates will improve their services to benefit the public at large as an implication of the symposium.
