VB Rajendra Prasad passed away

Popular producer and film director V B Rajendra Prasad, 82, died here on Monday night at Isha Hospital in Somajiguda. According to doctors attending on him, it is a natural death. He has been suffering from age related ailments. Veeramachaneni Babu Rajendra Prasad is known for his works predominantly in Telugu cinema, a few Bollywood and Tamil films.

Born on November 4, 1932 at Gudivada in Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh, Prasad had wanted to become an actor but donned the hat of producer with the movie Annapurna in 1960. He has directed and produced many blockbusters under Jagapathi Pictures. Then industry hit film 'Dasara Bullodu' was directed and produced by Rajendra Prasad. Leading actor Jagapathi Babu is his son.

Other noted films of VB includes 'Bangaru Babu', 'Manchi Manushulu', 'Pichchimaraju', 'Bangaru Bommalu', 'Bharyabharthala Bandham'. He received Raghupati Venkaiah Naidu award Life Time Achievement in 2003 and KV Reddy Memorial Award in 2000. He has directed over 14 films, produced 16 films and introduced Jagapathi Babu with the film Simhaswapnam movie

As a producer he produced all time hits like 'Dasara Bullodu','Aradhana', 'Aathmabalam', 'Anthasthulu', 'Adhrushtavanthulu', 'Akkachellellu','Bharyabharthala Bandham', 'Killer' etc. Rajendra Prasad's 'Antastulu' has won a national award in 1965. He was a recipient of Raghupathi Venkaiah award. Tollywood actors who were shocked to hear the news expressed their condolences to the family.
Prasad had dedicated the twilight years of his life to spiritualism and spent a lot of time in the temple complex at Film Nagar in Hyderabad.
