What can we do now?
Kavitha Shah | 28 Jan 2011

People like Mother Teresa have left paths which we can follow. Where we shall have to devote our entire life to bring in the changes and there is so much of population where all are bound by prior promises, bound by the vicious circle of life.

SITTING HERE as I watch the movie Bhagat Singh I am filled with the feeling of vigour and anger. On the other hand, as I read the book, ‘An autobiography of Gandhi’ I am filled with humility and peace. There has been so much going on in the past and we have come a long way from then on.

Fighting for our nation were two kinds of people. One kind, who fought with violence as their chosen path while, the other kind chose non-violence as their route. Their end goal was the same, had they both come together then, could we have achieved our goal of freedom earlier? Nevertheless there is no point in digging buried bodies or pasts, now is the time to look forward and to bring about a revolutionary change.

Changes where life is helped and they are moved to higher and better stages of happiness. People like Mother Teresa have left paths which we can follow. Where we shall have to devote our entire life to bring in the changes and there is so much of population where all are bound by prior promises, they are bound by the vicious circle of life. Living in this circle is it possible to perform any such task where the life can come to a beautiful turn?

How can we serve and still feel selfless. When the poor were ill-treated then the legends like Bhagat Singh and Gandhiji had risen. Now the problems are improper basic necessities to the common man. Can we not have proper roads? Why not have trees on the roads? Why such pathetic driving on the roads? Can we not drive safe and better? Why not make rules which we can follow?

Someone has to come ahead and raise hands. Support and then these shall change. Why not drive in a pattern that is right? One car behind the other and two wheelers behind the other. Is it possible? Can we ask the person who spits in front of us on the road, why? Can the traffic police charge the person who breaks rules? People driving without helmets should be looked down on the roads. Is it possible if we all raise hands? This is the first issue. Many such issues can be raised. Let us take them one day at a time, and one step after the other. The first issue is the road issue. Will people around spread this like wild fire, remains a big question.
