The issue of stray dogs needs a solution for a growing country like India.  Based on a report, around 80% of the world's one billion cats and dogs are stray or neglected. Also animals suffer greatly and are often forgotten during natural disasters.

In India the issue of stray dogs needs solution.  In many of the streets in cities, towns and villages all across the country, these stray dogs are found in some numbers.  At times, these dogs also find entry into society flats, causing some chasing work to do by the security staff to drive them out.  During night times, they are prone to frequently barking causing some sort of noise pllution.

One solution could be dogs coming to the rescue of dogs - in advanced countries greyhound racing is very popular. On similar lines, Government of India can plan to introduce greyhound racing at select centers and after meeting all the administrative expenses, the surplus revenue can be shared with different municipal corporations across the country for bettering the lives of stray dogs.  Municipal Corporations can plan to tie up with leaders in animal welfare organisations and plan to open up more and more shelter homes for stray dogs where they can be relocated from the streets and nurtured to lead better life.  The surplus generated by grey hound racing can be planned to be distributed between the shelter homes for animals.  It is not very clear as to the impact of the general health of an individual due to the presence of stray dogs but the general belief is stray dogs can also be a health hazard for the society.  Therefore, if they are relocated to a proper shelter home can help the society to go one step ahead in cleanliness drive.

Hoping the above favours consideration at the right quarters.
