Vani's comment on If Kaavya plagiarised, who defends stock characters?

Sound argument and quite correct. It could have been a case of cut and paste as far as some lines were concerned, but over all, it is convincing that the passages could have been unintentional and internalised as Kaavya says. Any person who writes is aware that the early creations are very likely to be what had been read by them before. My guess is that those who have shouted hoarse against plagiarism have done so for some petty reasons a)peer jealousy b)self righteous pique on American kids being judged by an immigrant c)eye for detail that blinds the total picture. Brilliant and original within the mundane, the book is a compelling read. Witty and insightful it and gave a better stature to chic-lit.
