Hindus and Jains celebrate Akshaya Tritiya for their own reasons

In Jaipur, the festival of Akshaya Tritiiya or Akha Teej is being observed today, May 13, and is considered a highly auspicious day both by Hindu and Jain communities. The observance of the festival is believed to provide the non-diminishing benefits of good deed and new work or activity on this day. Many marriages, even child marriages despite the ban, are solemnised on this day becuase of the auspiciousness attached to the day.

Jaipur observes International Nurses' Day

In Jaipur, the International Nurses' Day (IND) was observed by the Rajathan Nursing Students Association and various hospitals on May 12. A candle march was held at Gandhi Circle and rich tributes were paid to Florence Nightingale - the founder of modern nursing. Also, a human chain was formed in the city to highlight the cause and significance of nursing.

Jaipur observes Global Road Safety Week

Jaipur observed the Global Road Safety Week from May 6 to 12 by organising various activities like a long short walk of school children sponsered by various government departments and civil society organisations on May 11 along with training of elementary school teachers on newly developed road safety curriculum at Adarsh Vidya Mandir, Jawahar Nagar and at Jaipur Children's Academy, Mahesh Nagar on May 10-11 under the auspices of Fleet Forum.

In a recent case, lending help to his cousin in a false dowry harassment case against her in-laws by preparing bogus bills proved fatal for a jeweler in Jaipur and turned the table on the victim who alleged harassment from her in laws.
