Himachal CM confronts issue of illegal mining
In the ever first meeting of Industries Department held at Shimla today after taking over as Chief Minister, Virbhadra Singh clearly indicated to curb illegal mining in the state. Citing example of illegal mining in Chakki rivulet on the border of Punjab and Himachal and on the banks of other major rivers and rivulets, Virbhadra Singh said that stern measures should be adopted to stop such practice.

Woodpecker acts as an inspiration for helmet design
Road safety is a very important issue in the west. People cannot imagine breaking traffic light signals, not responding to street etiquette or not taking proper precautions while on the road. Catering to this need, an Indian student from the UK's Royal College of Art has designed a bicycle helmet that is entirely made from cardboard. What came about as an inspiration was a woodpecker!
