All political parties are in the election mode, with the general
elections around the corner. LK Advani, the prime ministerial
candidate of the BJP has trained his guns on the Congress-led UPA. The
BJP's election plank seems to be the Ram Mandir issue, which was put
on the backburner for several years. Narendra Modi's success in
Gujarat, the widespread anger post Mumbai terror attack, increasing
Talabanisation of Pakistan are some of the issues that fueled the
BJP's election strategy. BJP is aggressively marketing itself on the
internet, placing advertisements in several online foreign newspapers,
including Pakistani sites. BJP certainly does not have the charisma of
Atal Bihari Vajpayee, a Nehru-like face within the party, who appealed
to the masses. The Advani charm, Ram Mandir issue, post-Mumbai
terror attack, etc might work in BJP's favour, the party hopes. Will
LK Advani be the next prime minister of India?
