Should the BJP and Congress come together?

The Congress and the BJP have been at loggerheads election after election, government after government. While the former calls the latter communal, the latter misses no opportunity to call the Congress pseudo secular. Each is at the head of an alliance formed with keeping the other out of power as one of its main aims. Their coming together would signal the end of regional parties and parochial agendas; and would facilitate a majority government, which would be capable of implementing policy decisions bypassing the number game. Should the BJP and Congress come together?

Congress and BJP are two faces of corruption - both are same - there is a tactical understanding between them. always one come to other to rescue. they stage drama as two different entitites. if one go through both Congress and BJP are pro-communal. Is that Babri Majid has been destroyed without the help of Congress? Is it possible without the support of central government. every one is power mongers. - there is no difference between Congress, BJP, Regional parties - all all communal, parochial agenda to stand afloat with corruption as one point agenda

its better if both the parties come together........they should forget their difference for the sake of the country

r.k.kapoor : Apr 27, 2009
Yes, time has come for them to be together but for the following purposes - 1. They must retire all M.P.'s of Both Houses who are above 50 years of age. Encourage Young Educated people to join who have at the most 2 kids. 2. Change Mindset - Must give atleast 100 days Job to all unemployed in all Urban and Rural Areas based on candidates qualification. 3. Promote opening of More new Govt. Ventures instead of talking of Private Partnership to restore confidence of Employment Generation & Growth in Indian citizens. eg. Projects like Delhi Metro. 4. Stop entertaining membership and tickets to criminals and promote friendship & alliances, punish all who indulge in Hate speeches. 5. Must raise upper age limit of candidates applying for Govt. Jobs to 40 years as in Haryana.
V.GANDHI : Apr 27, 2009
Yes ,if not this time ,we can see together in next 5 years. Not directly but indirectly as they have already worked together in Narsimha Rao;s term. We will see that in next 5 years most of the big leaders who are between the age group from 70-90 will be retire or people will retire them as general public have fedup with these faces. These old leaders are the main hurdel in formation of National Govt.

Yes in a way I agree that BJP and Congress should come together to form the Govt. It is very clear that no party can form Govt on their own. They have to depend on regional parties who with less number of MPs dictate terms on how to run the Govt. The growth and economy will be jeoparadised if these small regional parties are allowed to dictate the National Parties. This act will result in creation of more number of small parties. Instead, BJP and Congress should come together to form the Govt on equal sharing basis either in ministerial berths or periods of two and a half years each. Each party has good numbers of seasoned politicians who can lead the country very well. The so called Third Front will act as main opposition in the Parliament
chandrika dwaraka : Apr 19, 2009
No, BJP & CONGRESS not come together. Both parties rules are different . No, I don't see any reason for BJP and Congress to join hands to form a govenment at centre. India is a democrative country and in democracy a strong opposition is the first requirement to catch hold ruling party for its worng doing. At present besides Congress and BJP, other political parties including a large number of regional parties do not seem fit to play an effective opposition role as they have large number of differeces.
Ravi : Apr 18, 2009
Yes, I agree . They are two big political parties at present. There are other small parties with their malafinde intentions causing harm to the growth and development of our nation. If we have these two big parties together as ONE who are quite strong and having experinced leaders from various fields, can definately do wonders for the Nation and its development. The Manifesto of both the parties do cover some or the other beneficial requirements of the common peolpe. I personally beleive that two strong people if shake hands, can always lead to the heights of sucess and also the fire of serving their best for the nation in leaders like Narendra Modi, Rahul Gandhi and others will definately lead us on a fruitful track. Our Nation now need a very strong and stable government to lead the country. We are on the verge of getting away if we get any unstable and selfish government. If we get BJP + Cogress together we would simply rock..And will say Jai ho for our lovely Nation

Yes, I do believe that BJP and Congress shd come togther and first thing after they come in power in to ban these single man local parties ...india is drowning only due to these local parties like RJD , SP , BSP , JD offfff list is endless and yes who can forget the red parties they are there only for the sake of against the against... these communist are of no value for india . . . . . What ever may be but at leats BJP or Congress can think in terms of National Intrest ...... I am a BJP Supporter but you know now i tell ppl either to vote for congress or to BJP but not to these locals...
Vipan : Apr 18, 2009
Yes I very much agree,The Congress Party and The BJP, MUST come together, for the sake of the country, whose interests they hold paramount. The country deserves a sound and stable government in the present unstable international scenario. Let our country not dissolve into oblivion, let us respect the freedom that we enjoy, the blood that has been shed for it and is being shed right now.Atleast this once let both these mature parties come together for the sake of the nation.Let them ensure our peace, prosperity and happiness together.I am certain, they together can. The negative aspect of such an alliance can only be a weak opposition.Do the communist countries have any government opposition at all? And if they can exist without any qualms of democratic rights then why not a strong democratically elected government, with a weak opposition? Coming to basic facts, there is bound to be some, infact a lot of disagreement on portfolio allotment in such a scenario, which is but natural seeing the hullaboo on a simple thing like seat sharing.Let both the parties be mature enough to agree on portfolio allotments, which shoud be based on inhouse discussions and not media flaunted. Both parties must form the government together with a mix of ministers of both parties and not something like the earstwhile J&K Govt having tenure based pure party rule.Though it may seem illusiory, let them try it out,MP's who appear dissatisfied may attempt sitting on the opposition bench, thereby let them form the strong opposition instead of the regional/so called third front or fourth front.Let them form a shadow cabinet on the lines of the British parliament and contribute effectively towards good governance.Let the Ruling Combine be called as such, let the Opposition Combine, less the other parties in the opposition bench be called Monitoring Combine,or by any other suitable name. Let this arrangement continue for atleast three years if not five. Both parties can switch back to their basic identities after such an arrangement ceases to exist,if it continues, all the better for the country. For god's/countrys sake let us make our country stronger. As like the Himalayas, which is known as young, compared to some other older mountain ranges INDIA is still a YOUNG DEMOCRACY,not average national agewise, but internationally(Nationwise).Let us nuture it further till it reaches maturity, thereafter it will have the wherewithall to look after itself.

this will give a strong goverment at the centre and eliminate the caste based parites, which provide a hung parliament, horse trading and unite with an intention to make money. The muslims of this country cannot become vote banks and no need to appease their interests as minoirities.

In the present circumstances a national govt. formed by coming together of the Congress & BJP is the only solution to save our country from the complete disorder which will prevail if the so called third or fourth fronts were to call the shots with their parochial and selfish agendas in government formation. History is witness to the bad times our country went through during the short stints of so called third front leaders like Charan Singh, Chandrasekhar & Deve Gowda. While framing the Indian Constitution our erstwhile leaders could never forsee such a situation and no provision for weeding out regional parties from participation in national government was made. It is a proven fact that civilisations which do not change perish early. In a Country like India which has diverse culture & economies, bi-party system, despite being the best solution in present scenario won't sustain for long. Left parties shall be the biggest impediment in it's success. A constitutional amendment permitting only the national parties to contest Parliamentary elections is the need of the hour. Only those parties which have atleast 25% seats in more than 12 State Assemblies should be declared a National party. Meanwhile, for the present let Mr. Advani and Dr. Manmohan Singh initiate the concept of a Joint national Govt. and go down in history as Statesmen who changed the face of our polity. .......God..Bless this Country & Let Wisdom prevail.....Sharat Ralhan, Palampur (HP)
Sharat Ralhan : Apr 15, 2009
Yes, they must atleast for one election and then must run the country with a national government for atleast one term. This will put regional parties in their place and going forward much more stable alliances could be formed to run. Currently it is the fact that both these strong political parties wont come together is what is being exploited by the left and these single digit parties

To keep the third front out of power in the centre.and for the national interest both The BJP and The congress may come together. Why because third front do not have the national vision to take India at the fore front at the global map. Third front are having vested interest to grab the centre power ,so it is the both parties' (BJP and Congress)resposibility to save the country from the peaple having vested interest rather than national Vision. SK Thakur Begusarai. (Bihar)
Sushil Kumar Thakur : Apr 14, 2009
both the parties have a strong and ancient bakcground in Indian politics.they both have tested the power and they both are equipped with good leaders with vast experiences. So,if really we say and mean that "The country is our priority",the we(the citizen of India)should emphasize upon a two party system ,inorder to eradicate the crowd of politicians and keep our growth in an exponential rate. Why there is not any mandatory qualification for becoming a politician? even we take care of so many things before appointing a peon?maid?sweeper?an IAS officer?an IPS officer?teacher?clerk?

I am of the opinion every five years public give the mandate to changed party and govt. In larger persepective it will bring pressure to the ruling &opposition perties not to fool people for long time. The next govt.will take care of public with future cosequences
satish k.singh : Apr 13, 2009
Yes, despite difference on some counts, Congress and BJP meet at so many points and their coming together will make Govt at Centre to be more Centre oriented, and it will mitigate any chances of `sale purchase' of `dignitaries'. and India will grow at quick pace when energies are not wasted over parochial power politics of small parties coalition
Dr Ravi K Mahajan : Apr 12, 2009
Yes both the parties should come together as this would help in eliminating regional parties and would improvise the conditions of indian politics... As we know that the great leaders of our country belongs to these two parties than there is no harm in bringing the bests together... And if this happpens then both the parties will work for the betterment if the country and will also eliminate third and fourth front which dont have any future in the indian poltitcs!!!!
Love dhaka : Apr 12, 2009
Not at this stage. In a democracy at least two parties are required, one as the ruling party and other as the opposition party. If & when both Congress & BJP become so weak that they cannot provide a stable Govt. at the centre even with the support of their allies, then only their merger should be considered.

This is a good solution to eliminate the regional and opportunistic parties. Alternatively, India too should have only two major parties. Rest all should be given an option to merge in either Congress or BJP. Only a majority government can help India progress.
Sudhi Agarwal : Apr 09, 2009
Ya i Agree For Congress and BJP Coming Together. The Best Leaders Are only in these 2 parties.. The Best Leaders can Be chosen from both Parties and a Good Government can be formed and The Third and the forth front can be eliminated which has no future in indian politics.
Vinay : Apr 08, 2009
Both the parties should come together... because both of them have great personalities that can together give efficient output... which may not be possible when both of them working against each other. So for our INDIA.... both of them should work together in positive direction for growth of country, instead of playing bad game of politics.
vimal : Apr 08, 2009

Smitha : Apr 08, 2009
Anything is possible in politics. As SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav has said earlier that no one is friend or foe in politics. Despite being two at the loggerheads, they can provide a government which will vanish the regional political parties and run a stable and powerful government. But the image they carry cannot bring them together. The war between them is Communalism vs. Secularism (no matter if it is pseudo). But anyway the alliance between the two will change the face of the country, from common man to India's image as important and powerful nation in the world.

when you view the scenario in karnataka you will note that, for a national party, the BJP just didn't have candidates for almost ten constituencies - - they simply had to throw the bait to disgruntled Congressmen, who willingly grabbed it. If the BJP can poach congress veterans, what prevents the BJP leaders to make a formal proposal to the congress leadership to come together to give a more meaningful and effective government to the country. Both parties should come together to prevent the regional parties from spoiling the chances of both national parties.
M.H.Shareef : Apr 05, 2009
The only way to defeat growing regionalism is for the pan India parties to join forces. However, such a step demands statesmanship and abnegation of narrow interests. Neither the Congress nor the BJP have the kind of leadership that could make this impossibility a reality.
JITENDRA kAUSHAL : Apr 05, 2009
Firstly, there should be a third option above saying, "I wish". That would be an ideal scenario, with 2 major parties of our country, becoming one. But unfortunately, both have different ideologies so practically, its not possible. I also feel, because of this the government formed by these would be a complete failure. But i would definitely say, such a government formed would be better than the one formed by the so called Third Front.
Prasad Godbole : Apr 05, 2009
absolutely. as the only two parties that have had sustainable experience in running a country, and as the only two parties who have effectively stimulated india's economic growth, they must come together. they should, if the nation's progress is the foremost criterion, leave all their fundamental ideologies and political differences aside and stand shoulder to shoulder and behave as true leaders. of course, depending on who has the most number of seats in the parliament, the parties may then decide as who will be PM, Deputy PM, Home Minister, Finance Minister, Defense Minister, Foreign Minister etc etc. They should work out their formuale so that there's no bickering once after the election results are out. Much like the Duckworth Lewis system in cricket. But to me, the main issue is that this nation needs stability, and an unwavering focus and commitment to take the country ahead. If this doesn't happen and if once again the demons of coalition politics were to take the upperhand, then sooner of later both these grand parties will have to fade away. And perhaps a new united party of india, that's sworn to the progress of the country and led by unquestionable and blemishless leaders like sreedharan - metro rail, bimal jalan - ex rbi governor, kamal hassan, salman rushdie, medha patkar, arundhati roy, kapil dev, abdul kalam, pataudi, amitab bachchan, ratan tata, lakshmi mittal, kiran mazumdar, adi godrej, narayana murthy, amartya sen, amitab kant, damodaran - ex sebi chairman, etc etc, should form an independent party with media's and the military's complete and full support, and lead india. we are a country on the threshold of glory and much gain, and we have the potential to erase poverty and inequality and rescue the have-nots from abject darkness. For once then, there will be a party made to save India. If leaders of the bjp and congress do not see this, and do not combine to help us all, we will have to look within ourselves to help form the united party of india. your call dear politicians.

I think it is a good idea. The 3rd front have no any vision and have no any powerful leader. Earlier we have the bad experience in Devagwda's & Late Chandrasekhar's era. The congress and BJP must come together because there are a lot of similarities in their policies and these are the major national parties who can ensure integrity of India. In 3rd front maximum are regional parties and it is very dangerous to the nation in future that these parties are becoming powerful.

It is not the failure of the terrorism that bothers us, it is our failure to have a plan to meet the emergencies that bother us most. secondly why should we not openly come out that the root cause of the terrorism is fundamentalist Islamic thoughts and has got nothing to do with hinduism. If hinduism could be provocating terrorism, why it is flourishing in Pakistan, a Muslim state.

No, never. Since both the party have a very different set of ideology and principles therefore that solution of oil and water would never stick together for a long time. Moreover, after seperation, both the party would not have face to confront the public. The Mass will be confused and smaller party with vested interest of their own will take advantages and ultimately an archy and polorisation. ALL political parties are guilty of every crime in the IPC. In this most regrettable situation, ANY "coming together" will be welcome. The crucial point is "JUST WHAT FOR" are they 'coming together'??!! To share in the spoils, right?! Why is politics SO attractive? ONLY because of the said "spoils", NOT because of the GREAT OPPORTUNITIES for true SERVICE to the needy & to regulate the greed of the already rich/famous/powerful. This is the SAME reason for terrorism today on earth esp by the bin Laden mafia. Our politicians - including the Congress/BJP - are also a type of mafia only. A bit less violent, less openly greedy for POWER but ever ready to win by hook or crook, even by BRIBING the voters - a la Jaswant Singh, the man who surrendered at Kandahar IC 814, what a shame! does HE EVER have shame?!!! - or by rigging, abetting crimes & criminals like Navjot Sidhu (who murdered a road user brazenly....) & the many charge-sheeters on their lists of candidates, the many "stars" none of whom re free from crime....et al! The REAL STARS UP IN THE HEAVENS ARE THE ONLY "CANDIDATES" FREE FROM CRIME!! I shall soon come up with my scheme to end this sham democracy & "Justice delayed justice denied" + corrupt judiciary even at TOP levels whose cases the Allahabad High Court are, as per reports, trying to shove under the carpet!! Already, one of my articles has been published on MERINEWS on this topic but I shall improve upon it & send to to Merinews soon. M/while, I am sure many other CITIZENS will come up with THEIR views. I appeal to them to do so at once. Next to terror, this is our India's MOST PRESSING NEED, right? Can we afford to WAIT for "....sambhavami yuge yuge...."? ramani

Because they are the two sides of the same coin both feigning secularism which they never practice.Congress made muslim tools to garner votes after Freedom without uplifting their plight and doing any thing for them.BJP is equally making Hindus fools claiming that they are the saviour of Hindutwa which they are certainly not.For them Hindutwa is a tool to garner Hindu votes which they shall not get. Gainers shall be regional parties like BSP,SP,RJD,Akalidal,BJD in North,Shivsena,NCP in Middle India,ADMK,PMK in Tamilnadu and communist and Muslim League in Keralawhich are deviding this nation on the lines of caste, creed, language, riverwater and religion. Congress and BJP coming together is the only way to ensure stable government and finish of parochial and single-leader parties. For both their petty quarrels are more important than the nation.

I wish that both congress and BJP should join togather and form a Collition government. This will be the best govt.for the country as a whole thereby keeping vested interest away which is the root cause of curruption. The first agenda should be to bring back our money held in swiss and other foreign bank. This will really change the forture of India and Indians as a whole.

This is the need of the hour to unite BJP and Congress. All the ills prevailing in the country due to the vote bank politics will get eliminated. All sections of the society will get proper upliftment and there will be progress all around. The losers shall be those who have enjoyed the privileges due to muscle power so far.

congress always benefit by putting shri Manmohan singh at the forefront in view of his faithfulness towards the Nehru/Ganchi family. It unfortunate that such a learned politicial, who are very few, choses the family worship as primary than the interests of the country. The very fact that the militants of the Bombay blasts are not totally dealt with even today against his declaration that " NO ONE WILL BE SPARED'. iIf the congress clams that theirs is a clean party, and only party that can offer transparant rule , then why cannot arrange for publishing of the names of the secret bank account holders in swiss banks, and nationalising this money. When this congress could abolish the privy purses, which are legal monies of the earstwhile rulers, why they cannot bring to the country the illgotten money of the politicians deposited in the swiss banks. If the party claims as a party of the people, they should do this at once. I suggest Shri Manmohan singh, the prime-minister of the country, should initiate steps in this direction unilaterally, as no body can object such action.

People have become sick and tired of the 'pull and push' among different parties and within the parties themselves. Sometimes I feel, too many mushrooming political parties(God knows what is their intention) make us shrug our cold shoulders even in casting our votes........

Despite to-day being WE THE PEOLE OF INDIA'S BIRTHDAY enforced on us by the so called Nethas, this is one of the best solutions to the present problems. How long we can tolerate the selfish unprincipled, Mayavathies, Paswans, Dev Gowdas, Laloos, Karunanidhys, Jayalalithas, and a bunch claiming themselves to be communists,. etc., etc. They are bound to gather sufficiently big crowd who will dictate tems.In fact they are planning to run the government as only the party they side will be able to form a government. Do we allow such cituation ? The so called secularism of Congress with Muslim League as their part and killing Kashmiri Pandits is in no way different from BJP. I do not find any difference in the government of Congress or BJP. The crucial issue is how to eliminate the bystanders. I do not fnd anything wrong if the BJP and Congress come together and form a government eliminating all the clowns. If they succed the next election at least will be a smooth one. We can go for a fresh poll after 2 years with a ditermination not to include the local parties in the national scenario.
Col NR Kurup (Retd) : Apr 01, 2009
For long the citizens of India have been giving almost equal votes to the two major parties with the hope that they will sit together in a National Government and solve the pressing issues of this great nation. The Congress party formed its base on all the nationalistic people who came under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi to free India from the British. But during the trying days of partition, it became obvious that the patriotic thrust of men with different dreams of an Independent India was hijacked by what is left of the congress party, today. If the Congress party looks back at history and introspects, it will be obvious to them that they actually have more in common with the BJP than the leftist or the opportunistic regional parties. Their only bone of contention with the BJP has been the interpretation of secularism. They should ask themselves how this country had adopted a policy of respect and tolerance towards other faiths, many of them who exploited this tolerance and abused our hospitality. They should remind themselves how this country preserved Zorastrianism in its pure form when it was battered into extinction in all other countries, including the land of its origin, Iran. If the congress reverts to its original ideology and rids itself of vote-bank politics, it will find it has more in common with the BJP than any other party. An alliance between them will ensure absolute stability at the centre and keep at bay the leftists and the opportunistic regional parties whose only aim is to arm twist the centre to give more importance to their regional centres ignoring other regions.
Krish : Apr 01, 2009
yes, this is the best thing to happen to the Nation and the Alliance if done before Polls will be a turning point in Indian Politics. The People or the citizens will be absolved of the petty politics of political mismatch at the cost of the taxpayer. If the bjp and congress join hands then they will be able to implement their development programmes more effectively. Prime Minister will have to be by rotation and a strong STAMP Paper agreemnet will have to be signed by both the Prim Ministerial candidates and regd in the court of Law and The first Prime Minister can be decided by which Party gets the majority amongst the two. They should maybe fight the poll separetly on whatever issues that they may think are pertinent. They together are sure to have a majority, so instead of either party comparmising (which they would anyway do in case of UPA or NDA Coalation) on lots of stuff, why not compramise and shake hand with each other for the sake of a stable government? Maybe have an option of switching the PM midway as well. To HELL with the scores of regional parties who only have regional issues in their manifasto and actually barter support for ministerial berths. I repeat, to HELL with them. We want centre to be strong with economic development as the main agenda and nothing else and both Congress and BJP have time and again proved that they are both committed towards growth of India's GDP at a rate of maybe 10%. Just think what would happen if India does not have CPM. Lalu and Jaya on the centre political front at all. Will they do it? Can they do it? May god help them. Amen Rakesh Samar BE, MBA 9414165987

M. S. Verma : Apr 01, 2009
Indian citizens in general don't really deserve a genuine government because they hardly care about reforming Indian politics. The sense of polity only emerges during election period and for rest of the time they wish to earn fast income, enjoy lust and leisure by watching non sense TV programmes. There is hardly true sense of citizenship among general Indians. As a result the political parties exploit common Indians and in turn general public curse the political parties. All this is not good for India. Have we ever given a serious thought over reforming India through public initiative, dedicated efforts and commitments? We should urge to pull party system politics down and let the entire candidate file their candidature as independent on base of individual capacity. Whosoever succeeds to get maximum votes from a particular constituency will be declared as Member of Lok Sabha without any party. After poll results all elected MPs will enter into another election to form the Government where MPs may file their candidature for post of different ministries and all MPs will cast their votes to elect the respective ministers. This way we may have democratic system clean from party politics which is creating all non sense in Indian democracy.
Syed Zahid Ahmad : Apr 01, 2009

For taking the serious and bold decisions, which are must and beneficial for the country in long run than getting exploited by the masters of the tiny regional party's , who either are corrupt , have no vision beyond personal gains and have little time to think on the burnig issues the country is facing. The politics of appeasement for one section at one time or other , decaying values and character in public life having two faces is leading the common man confused and following it will lead the whole nation most corrupt, from where it will be difficult to come back and all around, the might will prevail as right.

If any politicians are serious about the welfare of the country then they will have to AGREE. Sincierly wish that the Govt. at the Centre should be headed either by Congress or by BJP. Any other coalition will only make the matters worse. The "Varun IN JAIL UNDER NSA" episode is just a small example of what one can expect if a third alternative comes in power at the Centre. If Congress or BJP cannot come to power of their own then "FOR THE SAKE OF THE MOTHERLAND THEY SHOULD COME TOGATHER" a least for one time. While on the subect it will not be out of place to mention here that if this happens then they may be able to make some really urgent constinational amendments. Let there be an amendment on the number of PARTIES we can have. Let there be another amendment that the REGIONAL Parties can be allowed to contest elections only for a limited nmber of seats. The anti-defection Laws have o be made more strict. One who vacates a seat should not be allowed to contest for next five to ten years.

it will only be good if boh the major national parties come together, but the glitch in the problem is that the two parties have two different ways of approaching the same problems. this makes the task of reconciliation and compromise between the two giants almost next to impossible. moreover, the union of these two would mean the reduction in the diversity of parties, both at the regional and national level.
pallavi singh : Apr 01, 2009
I strongly agree. When the motto is serving the people, why not both join hands together ? Somehow things started as, one not satisfied with the other's performance. These are funny, crazy times. Let this new coalition be formed and the third front be the second largest party, forming the opposition. After five years, let these two separate. Congress join hands together with the third front, which would have become the second front. They will rule together. Then, again different permutations and combinations. New parties will be formed and confusions will prevail. The problem with our country is not with the parties, but with the people. If people are going to ask questions and know what exactly is happening there, question the fundamentalism of the government by walking into the government agencies freely, know what is happening there and what are the different constituencies. Just by spreading the words, there will be definitely peace. Simply scolding a leader willn't turn things around nor by questioning the actions of the government, by writing posts like this or talking about these to your friends. Step a move forward, everyone will soon follow. To whomever it may concern! "Look at the skies. It conspires to those who dream and work" - The president who acted as an intermediator in the story.

It is just difficult rather say impossible because God Ram can't be friend of Ravan, Krishna can't be good friend of Kans. The idiology of both parties is different, both parties are finding out the weak points of each other. This politician himself spreading the castism and religionwise votes. In india still 70% voters are illiterate and due which election is taking place. The intellectual man is not even for cast his vote because he don't trust on any party. Near about 15000 crores of rupees have been spend for conducting the election. After forming any government they will extract the money from common man by way tax, vat, increase electricity rate, water rate ,prices of grains, sugar, petrol and other corporation taxes. Hence in my view I am totally against the coliation with congress and BJP

No, not at all becaous thay are diagonally opposite in their beliefs congress has stood for secularism and pro poor and for upliftment for downtrodden while rss the, mentor of bjp stands for bizzare hinduism and its party of rich and higher middle class and always against of reservation and inclusive polity and more ever they are thinking that they are the only intelligent and patriotic human being on the earth but in reality they have always at times done nothing for it for example khalistan kashmir issue but fortunetly bjp will not succeed in its goal caous most of indians are true hindus in nature which propogates inclusive culture and dont hate anybody and anything its a true sankhya philosophy and that is why hinduism has surrvied through thousand of years when all other religions has vanished

Prima-facie it may appear good that both the parties come together and form an unprecedent ally but later pondering on the issue reveals as a nightmare. If the two, leading, opponent party of this largest democracy comes together, the whole concept of democracy will be belied, as for a democracy a minimum of two party system is inevitable. But if the two comes together which is not going to happen and should not because the two are poles apart in terms of their ideaologies the government formed will not be less than an autocratic.aND HENCE SHOULD BE AVERTED.

That would be the end of the democracy in India, in case both come together. As it is known the agenda of both the parties are totally different, that is of congress and BJP. While the congress was instrumental for getting independace, the other one raking up the communal feelings and hatred, but both basically never worked for the people of the nation. Both the parties are there for only few individuals of wealthy peaple or industrialists.

A strong pro people opposition is crucial for the survival of democracy. May be this idea of yours could become a reality, after all anything is possible in Indian politics. But that would be a sad day for this nation, cause If all parties start aligining in greed for power and positions, who would act like a watch dog, and resist anti people moves of government. A strong opposition ( whoever it might be...!) is a must. We need to vote to atleast put a strong opposition in place aganist self-centred power mongers, who would anyway fool innocent people into voting in favour of them.
radha m. nagraj : Apr 01, 2009
If they come together the situation of common man will more worsen. They can pass any bill without debate and rule the country as their wish and it should not happen.

BJP has no leader to put in front for which people can vote (Modi may be a chance) and no ideology either this time, just banking upon swiss account issue by rather getting illegal information from germany instead for asking legally by concerned banks because of which they had loosed their moral grounds. Let see can congress resist this bad blackmailing or come with the opportunitists.

I am not totally agree with this. It's good if both the parties are work together for the welfare of the country. But in country like India opposition must be very strong. And if we seen the condition of our political system, only BJP and Congress are powerful parties. If both parties make the alliance then there's need that opposition party become very strong.
Tanu Bhatt : Apr 01, 2009
How can this happen! these two parties are arch rivals to each other when it comes to ideology and their leadership too is against each other, so how can one expect these two parties mingling together all of a sudden and that too on April 1! This is un imaginable and quixotic because in India politicians can shun off parties to get plum posts, but they won't sacrifice their party positions for the sake of stability of the country. Hence, this is not possible to merge two political rivals who have don't have the common ideology but common goals (Prime Ministership).
A S L Narasimha Rao : Apr 01, 2009
This will do good to the nation. But unfortunately our POLITICIANS are so down trodden , selfish and egoist that they will not repeat not do anything that is good for the country
M P Sharma : Apr 01, 2009
I sternly oppose the coalition between BJP n Congress .This merge b/w the 2 biggest parties would act as an obstacle in the path of progress as it would hinder one party to act at their discretion as they will have to consider the opinion of the other party as well. Fearing the fall of govt. by the withdraw of the party, other party will be forced to take different decisions... Hence this would not only lead to delays in decision making but can also lead to conflict! It would be more clean n clear if a single party wins the majority n forms the govt. thereby by taking our nation to the pinnacle of success n development...

I believe OPPOSITION is a must in Indian Politics!
Shyam : Apr 01, 2009
I disagree. It will be the doomsday of Indian politics if such a thing happens. Rather a post poll alliance between Cong & Left is better.
