Celebrating May 15 as International Day of the Family and highlighting its importance for families and family values, the initiative commemorates to support every family in discharge of their day to day family functions and responsibilities. United Nation's mission speaks it self about the objective, this year UN's theme for International Day of the Family is ‘Mother and Families: challenges in a Changing World’. The 2009 International Day of Families will be observed at United Nations Headquarters in New York by a panel discussion on Thursday, May 14. Proclaiming the International Year of the Family, the motto is ‘Building a smallest democracy at heart of the society’. To what extent we are able to achieve the objective and allow the guiding light to enlighten the hearts of our future generation forever and understand their family responsibility and family values. Urge to earn, learn and wondering behind sparkling fantasy is breaking those emotional family bonds. The knots, which were tied years ago to care and share, are now molded in a new nuclear concept, leaving many hearts yearning to be together someday. Is joint family system the need of hour? Mother is a fulcrum of a family; she teaches us love and tolerance, which is much needed in today's scenario. There is so much intolerance that we have forgotten the basic values of being part of the society. This may be attributed to families breaking up because of education and jobs. In a joint family every individual learns to share love and care for each other. On the other side, there are too many people breathing down your neck.
