Are attacks on Indian students Racial?

Geographical boundaries, linguistic preferences, black, brown or white - Is racism confined to these parameters. On September 3rd, 07, eight Indian students were injured in a possible racist attack by about 50 Germans at a fair in Eastern Germany, on Feb 3rd 07, racist attack on Indians in Rome, Feb 25th 09, the London Gurudwara was not spared from racist attack. Problems of Racism and cultural intolerance have never found an end that could bury these forever. When global economy is on its highest bent, unfolding a chain of woes, which include unemployment, insecurity, financial crisis and so on, leading to greater repression, inequality and finally the term RACISM wakes up causing dreadful havoc around the world, where every one wants to make ones own stand. Critics have stated that racism can directly be associated to a mind set of people, which nowhere associates with patriotism or love for their own country, creed or colour, It is flawed because one cannot objectively measure ''racial discrimination'' and its abrogating impact on emotional and social limitation. The recent attacks on Indian students have again raised a question of unrest and turmoil, is the quest of being a scholar miles away from their land safe? The truth of racist attacks on Indian students is yet to be unturned, many assumptions, feared souls and infuriated young minds are yet to find the reason of being innocent targets, the speculation can be deeper to dig, or not what has been portrayed. Do you think the attacks on Indian students are racial?

I think the recession has thrown the Australians in a rage and in the middle of all this many Indians, specially the professionals, have managed to survive better. That is why the resentment against Indian students who are on the way to acquire qualifications necessary to become successful in a profession. It is racism because it is clearly directed against a non-white community and jealously that cannot tolerate those people are imagined as being inferior have proved themselves as superior to many white Australians. I am shocked because the government is not doing enough to salvage the situation and the police seems to be mixed up. Sooraj Saksena

The appalling events occurring in Oz are startling. One after the other innocent Indians are bleeding in agonizing pain. I simply fail to fathom as to what has antagonized these Aussies so much that they are blindingly unveiling these gory pictures by attacking innocent Indians. They are presenting such a shameful picture in front of the world community and are themselves deteriorating their image. How can we call such a nation a developed one when their thoughts and views still perch on the brittle and errant branches of the ancient times?

Its not about skin colors, if you see your blood color its always Red! In any emergency/accidents/medical needs who will donate you blood its not the matter if he is from Australia or India or any part of world. Then why shed violence for skin? Are we humans? In Australia it is seen their society is heading towards animalism which is alarming sign of detotrating society, value & human quality.

There is no doubt about it

The attacks are of cource racially motivated and it is not new in Australian culture. The attackers are the curse of the world and the Australian goverment will deny this as to promote racism is Australian goverment's hidden objective.
Kaushik Chaudhury : Jun 08, 2009
The attacks do look racial in nature but we must refrain from calling Australia a racist country. After all we have communal riots in India. What would we say if the world labelled us Hindu bigots or communal? Keeping a balanced perspective is important.
Vandana : Jun 05, 2009
these attacks r indeed racial only it cannot be a mishappening or a coincident when i heard about that another student gets attacked I was shocked

Just like IELTS examination being mandatory; similarly, there should be another examination conducted to facilitate students going out to foreign countries for education / job seekers governing mannerisms, etiquette, way of talking (speaking), and some other ideological issues; for example son of a farmer who has become instant rich due to big appreciation in the land price, decides to go to a foreign country for higher studies - he might get a big shock to see and feel many issues which he has never dreamt while being in his village - therefore, passing of such ideological (adaptability to an alien country's ways of doing things) exams will help both the candidate and the country where he is going to pursue his further studies in more than one ways.

YES ! It's racism. The world is still facing the same problems which were in the begining of the globalisation. In every country we will surely find some people of ill mentality. Govt. should punish them hard.

Attacks are not racial. In all attacks, The attacker demanded something. this is news media hype for TRP rating. Indians are worst than Australians when they start descrimination-caste ,colour & gender. How many you know 'Kallu' in your friend? How many of you seen white gals dancing behind bollywood stars? This racism is media hype. Even Africans are not well treated in India? So why Indians are not racist?
