Is India pursuing correct strategies to combat terrorism?

Today, a highly networked group of terrorists, scattered all over the country, and driven by a dangerous sense of anguish and revenge, pose a serious threat to India’s internal security. Innocent citizens continue to die. India is under a concerted assault by terrorist organisations using religious labels and drawing succor from across the border. The recent bombings in Jaipur, Banglore, Ahmedabad and Delhi bear testimony to all this. Consequently, India's approach to terrorism and its counter-terrorism strategies are heavily politicised. After every terrorist attack, the government doles out compensations to the victims and gives assurance that those responsible would be punished, only to be forgotten in due time. Moreover, whatever little terrorism deterrence that was available to India upto 2004 in the form of TADA and POTA was brought to naught by the present Indian government with the repeal of POTA, which were meant to tackle terrorism through pre-emptive arrests. However, Rahul Gandhi says we do not need POTA. Are we pursuing correct strategies to combat terrorism?

Not at all we are not pursuing correct strategies to combat terrorism.........each and every act of the politicians is a competition among themself of who is being very successful in turning people attraction towards them and their party..........is that enough if the government provides compensations to the victims and does this bring back those persons who hav lost their life in the terrorist attacks. The government is easily giving assurances in the form of words that those responsible will be punished but the point to be noticed is that really has the government so far taken any effective measures to ban these terrorist acts and has it putforth any secure steps to prevent further terrorism in the country?

one can see nowadays that rather then our traditions and culture, terrorisn has become an intregal part of our once a GOLDEN BIRD, INDIA!!! people should join hands so that we can stop hand full people from exploiting population of a billion...

Men of steel like Shri Subhash Chandra Bose, Shri allabh Bhai Patel, Shri Lal Bhadur Shastri will never be found in the politics. We Indians have sold ourselves to everyone around us. Our loyalty to the nation is almost zero, with my due apologies to a microscopic few who are still there. Politicians are doing only harm to the country. Nobody has the guts to enact strong laws to curb terrorism. No body is concerned about the common man. We indian politicians know only that Nehru Dynasty and one day Italians should rule us. POTA shouldbe immidiately brought into effect, for which congress will not allow under some pretext.
SP Shindhe : Oct 02, 2008
we are not doing our best..........we need some more tough rule against terrorism.
sujal : Oct 02, 2008
There has bee rows of red/blacks days recently in the capital and around the country. Besides terrorism, the country failed to help the people save from the overflow the Kosi. Similarly, there hasn't been enough implementations of the laws to take care of terror crime. Catching the criminals or encountering them is no solution. After the encounter itself there had been 2 blasts in the city itself.
madhurima mukherjee : Oct 02, 2008
india needs a strong law like TADA to combat terrorism. This govt. has no moral strength to do so.
Rakesh Kumar : Oct 01, 2008
indian government has no political will power to combat terrorim due to muslim votes. we require modi in this matter.
Raj Kumar Makkad : Sep 30, 2008
more stringent laws to tackle terrorism needed.
Eklavya : Sep 29, 2008
Without a proper Legal Instrument the govt cannot clearly wipe out terrorism. POTA or TADA were good effective instruments to check and curb terrorosm. But the govt with all the intel and resources cannot stop a terroist who is determined to suicide bomb himself. Our system is very weak to the core, where politicians first priority is to care about himself of being in power and loot the country in different phases. And if the country becomes peaceful to live in, then the politicians do not have a new terror card to throw against his opponent. So this current govt is weak in heart and scared to again spill royal family blood that was spilt in Sreeperambalur. They have being appologising to all the related communities not to target their families and future ones to come.. When something aggresive and dynamic has to be done to improve the civil security of the country, political and public lives will be sacrificed on the alter of this nation. That does not mean to bow and give in to terrorist demands and agree with them. France made a brave and bold move to eradicate terrorism in their country and to discuss about it I may need another new topic to be opened up. India is weak and will always remain weak, and all our neighbours will exploit us in every way and form to achieve their objectives. Hope there will not be another politician who will sell our country to terrorists if his family is held at ransom in Afganistan or Pakistan.
Jason Bourne : Sep 29, 2008
where is it safe! india is not a better place but bitter place to live..!and has no critics for this anti terror law! where is peace! where is love.. where is the oneness!!only things which we can do is pray... so let GOD do the rest rather dan we giving law! people has to understand themselves where they have brought the country too!
jk : Sep 29, 2008

THE TERRORISTS APPEAR TO ME MORE TECH SAVVY AND SMARTER THAN OUR GOVERNMENT AND ARE ALWAYS PACES AHEAD OF THEM.
P e r v i n K a v a r a n a : Sep 26, 2008
It is all political and encouraged by parties who thrive for communal tension. They have been doing it for years from assam to punjab to kasmir. As far as terrorist are concerned they don't have any religion. Don't you think Muslims are getting killed in these blast too. The terrorists are not of any religion. A rigorous law and special courts are needed to deal with the terrorism situation and bring peace. People have to see behind the curtains and support political parties who have courage to place such laws to bring these cowards to justice
yogi : Sep 25, 2008
India has become a playground for all the activites in name of terrorism. Terrorsim is nothing else but an instrument which is used against religious clashes, cross border controversies, etc. We think India is making an effort. But it is so big foolishness of us.It is just the trend of ruling party to feed their family and loved ones with the money collected in name of development and security. And it is just the business of oppositin to bark and shout over all the initiatives of the ruling party. The game is very simple. But,the clean bold people are known as people dead in blast or matyrs.
