  Mumbai attack was intelligence failure

The terror attack in Mumbai has once again exposed the chink in the Indian security armour. It has once again made it clear that Indian security establishment as well as the intelligence agencies are not prepared to preempt such terror attacks. What is the solution to these attacks? Do we need to revamp the intelligence and the security structure to ensure that terrorists are eliminated before they could cause harm? It is high time we had preventive measures in place supported by dependable intelligence gathering. Nothing short of a comprehensive overhaul would work.

Yes! it is a intelligence failure. But more than intelligence it is the burocratic action that is not proactive. Because these burocrates are the most demotivated bunch of people today, who avoids responsibility. But there are still some good burocrates who is working hard perhaps that is the reason our system is still running with or without results.
Rajib Luchan Gogoi : Dec 02, 2008
Indian intelligence and beaurocracy managing these cops have failed miserably

mumbai attack has proved once again that terrorists are more powerful then our security systems, & they also beaten the intelligence agencies. They have shown the power of terrorist organisation & it has proven that they can do this kind of activity anytime and anywhere in the country.
Mukesh Kumar : Nov 30, 2008
What the intelligent they are doing? I think they know everything ...They are respond for this attacked
Reax Kamei : Nov 29, 2008
true that the intelligence depart of ours is capable enough but this time their intelligence is double crossed.the planning of the terrorist were not prepared in seconds, they took enough time to prepare for the attack.by this time our intelligence department should have came to know about all this.but the sad part is we failed, and we all paid a high price 4 that.hats off to the commandos who lost their life in the operation.
rahul dev chakravertty : Nov 29, 2008
Bombay incident can be generalize as total failure of intelligence, but it is 100% sure that monitoring and check up on lower level not done properly. The main source of intelligence like state police/marine police/central police coordination not better.
Debasis Chakrabarty : Nov 29, 2008
India proving best in all field but unable to prove terrorism

In fact the intelligence did do its work but the proactive action was totally missing for the reasons : 1) No coordination bewween the various agencies 2) The pursuit to score only brownie points are visible i.e proving itself superior to the others.3) Such an important matter being handled by beureocrats who have no professional exposure in such an important areas.4) Lack of any followup action as everyone seems to be responsible though in fact no one is responsible, need of a centralised department exists which reports only to the PM & no one else. No discussion of this department be done in the parliament& only the top professionals be in the team headed by a person designated as the National Security Chief & not ADVISOR. He has to be dynamic & responsive & proactive. An example of Mr Rane uttering that Ministers are assisting the terrorist has not resulted in bells ringing in the ears of security agencies. He needs to be asked about the details in the face of prosecution if he withheld such an information. Not being proactive to such statement is letting these irresponsible politicians to speak loosely in public. It would not be the failure of the intelligence agency as such people like Rane have many saviours in the corridor of power so he will be let off. And then it will add to the large nos. of Ranes in the country. We need to expose such irresponsible people.

Even though, Mumbai incident is a tragedy occurs due to the lack of intelligence, since the terrorists were well -planned and tried to down the country's prejudice and financial aspects. But, we will fight against terrorists and we will not give up any way to the terrorism. The aspects moved by the commandos for the past 60 hours were highly intelligent. The actions taken by the commandos for saving the hostages and tatics adopted by the commandos for encountering the terrorists were excellent. They had sacrifice their lives to save the nation and the peoples of mumbai city. The country salutes to the brave heroes. This incident occurs majorly due to the lack of information given by the hotel staff to the central police of mumbai. Moreover, they were not been aware of such incidents. Hence,it is not the total failure of intelligence and action of the police.
S.D.Shanmugakumar : Nov 29, 2008
It's not about intelligence but now, this is the face of India or the world for that matter. No matter how many security checks are put up, wen terrorists like these take on the baton of blowing their lives to spread violence, attck, grief and chaos...no sercurity check can ever suffice. It is beyond security, it's not only India but as powerfull nation as US have not been able to save innocent lives being hit out of such attacks. This is far more serious, the politcs involved around this little word, religion is going beyond measure and this height of hatred and violence has gone too far to be kept up under any kid of security checks!
