Delighted over the outcome of the election results. The old congress veterans have led the way.Democracy has has really worked in India. This shows that what the people have in their mind.Democracy has matured in India.People have recognised the communal and divisive forces. The real culprits are now came into light.Peole of other minor religion can live peacefully in this country and practice their religion with equal rights.I salute the awakened and educated voters. This is what India needs at this hour for unity in diversity.Long live our democracy.Long live India. We are now in the safe hands for the next five years. Thanks to the election commissioner.

Worried. In the name of reforms India will be sold out? Or Didi Mamta will ensure reforms will not happen - a la Bengal Elections? 'Left is left out'. But are you sure - Mamta Di will be holier than thou. She wants votes from Bengal. Who told regional aspirations are dead. Was not Mumbai a unholy alliance with Raj Thackeray. Let us wait for euphoria to die. Still - the wheel chair ridden Karunanidhi Mama is powerful enough. If you ditch Mama and opt for Mulayam Bhayya??? Well, India is still a confederation of States. People have regional aspirations. Congress is no Pan India Party. Manmohan is no Pan India leader. Rahul will turn in the long run turn out to be a Rajeev. Because, the big money of big industry rules roost.

The lok sabha election results were an eye opener especially for the the mediapersons. The voters showed that they were smarter than what the print and electronic media thought they were. The electors proved the mediapersons wrong on several accounts. India as a democracy and Indians have matured when it comes to polling. This is high time that media stick to the "reporting" and stop trying to influence the minds of the voters, else repercussions would be much more serious in the times to come. Media has already lost much credibility. Kudos to Indian electors, especially those whom we think know nothing about politics and their votes can be bought.

It shows that the people are masters in democracy. It is amazing that people from Kashmir to kanyakumari thought of impending danger of regional straps like that of Lalu yadav,Mulayam yadav and Paswan and orthodox left parties and voted in favour of one dispension to get a good and stable governance.

This is the result of sheer frustration (grapes are sour) under the disguise of fear of defeat & nothing else. Blaming and/or finding fault with somebody does not prove that you are good. YOU SHOULD BE REALLY GOOD & PRACTICE YOUR GOODNESS. THEN ONLY YOU CAN COMMAND RESPECT.
1. You blame some one because he/she is a Christian & conclude that he/she (might be) is inclined towards all the Christian Countries.
2. You blame MK Gandhi, Ambedkar etc. for all sorts of unwarranted reasons. 3. You blame every Muslim, because you are not a Muslim. 4. What are you then. A hate monger ? Why you hate so much ? What do you want ? R U sure what you want ? R U sure that you will enjoy if you get what you desire or again there will be all sub-groups of sub castes, clans, relatives then close relatives, then your brothers & sisters, your parents or you will prefer your wife ? How you will segregate your preferences ? By blaming unwanted persons & then discarding one by one ?
5. What a life to lead ?
May GOD save us all from such hate mongers.
Shafiq Ahmed
BJP failed to read Indian mind. Shrill criticism, over confidence & hate propaganda spoiled the last wishes of a PM in waiting. How long can he wait? Muslims are never against BJP, RSS, VHP, BD & Abhinav Bharat. Why should they be? This saffron brigade is following the policy of divide & rule & this the Indian has discarded. Shamelessly they brought forward the criminal Narendra Modi as their key campaigner who is expert in playing with the words, instigated a novice to make communal hate speech & in the middle of the campaign the over confident selected group stabbed their own leader - the PM in waiting - in the back.(Pl remember that the father of the Nation - MK Gandhi was stabbed & that too in a Muslim disguise) The Indian voter is now maturing. Let BJP punish the culprits of Godhra carnage, Orissa massacre & Malegaon blast accused whole heartedly. Lest this saffron brigade may vansih in no time. One will surely find the Indian voter will choose the JUST Ruler. Congress is a lesser evil hence the people chose them with a hope that some good change may come in Indian Politics. Some will now say that terrorist activities will increase. The question remains to be answered as to who will support and/or instigate the terrorist activities and why?
Shafiq Ahmed
No, I never voted for this kind of political bargaining and opportunism. The real colour of politicians is to be seen only after the elections. But alas, we cannot do anything but to hate the very breed of politicians and vow that next time we shall not vote because those voted are mere power hungry. They do not show any concern for the people of the country.

As it is impossible to bear the BJP ruling the nation I am happy to consider the INC snatching the power once again. But the power should be used for the nation’s interests not to satisfy the foreign appetite. Six decades passed after the independence but the nation is still crouching in the mud of poverty, illiteracy, child-death and many more malevolent truths. And the most excruciating fight that the country needs to be fought against the disease called Terrorism. The Indian National Congress should be well prepared for the brawl. Enough of the tall-talks, now its time to do something. I wish the INC may justify and value people’s choice without giving only the hint of hope.

Excellent verdict. For once, India voted for a change. India, with its past ancestorial trappings, cannot go communal. Religion is not our choice. BJP cannot sell their rotten stuff any more. Lefts cannot do things at their own volition. India voted for stability. Let there be a majority government to face real problems facing Indian populace. It's a mass verdict in favour of Congress, and let them live to our expectations!

I really feel pity about the condition of our people in India. Educated people talk about communalism. Today's youth talks about BJP being their favourite because they against certain people or community. Hopefully, their number is not enough and since more wise and literally educated people are in India, the verdict has been against such a backward thinking party. A party that has no agenda but communalism and blames, will elope soon. People say muslims vote for congress and vote against BJP, They should see the result and analyse that most of the muslim dominated areas have elected BJP candidates, because today's muslims want the development of this country and any individual who works towards the development will be elected, irrespective of which party he/she belongs to. Please my fellow Indians, change your ideology and work together towards the development of our beautiful country which can do wonders if we just forget about silly things like communalism, regionalism or casteism.

This election has proved that we Indians are still slaves of Dynastic Rule. It's not only our country ruled by Britishers,Mogulas,Huns, and all invaders in the past.We have inherited a slave mentality from our forefathers and anybody can come and rule us.We are so used to the Nehru Gandhi Dynasty that we have lost our senses inspite of Congress ruling the country for most of the time after independence and have gone on to win irrespective of corruption, hegemony, autocratic rule etc.The submissive metality of our people have humiliated a mature politician like L.K.Advani who has given his entire life to the country. The pseudo secularism practised by the congress has won over the practical approach followed by the BJP of equality in terms of race religion & cast and reservations only on the basis of Economic Status of the individual. The mandalisation of the IIMs,IITs and other educational institutes by our former HRD Minister has brought down the quality of both who teach and are taught..It's a Shame.Omprakash Loya

The left which checked the government for four years have been put in to the corner.People also forgot that it is the congress which is the root of all corrupt practises in the country. They have made the food a luxury to the common mass and they have been again put into the seat of power.

2009 election results have shown that we are still not independent mentally and a colonial mindset continues to persist amongst us. We like to be ruled and wish to live under the protection of Kings, Queens and dynasties. This is because we have not grown during the last fifty years and the basic problems of bijli, pani and sadak haunt us all the time. Added to this is the insecurity, unemployment, crime, corruption and casteism. Successive governments have not solved any of these problems because firstly they had no time to think about us the people, busy as they were in thinking about their own selves, their families and the ways through which they would continue to remain in power and secondly they dont want us to come out of these basic problems. Indians have therefore been relegated to guinea pigs who feel great with a small loan, a pay revision, a hand pump in a village, fewer power outages, a 24 hour running tap,a link road or a visit of a leader to their home. We indians have not matured and our democracy is only an exercise by the clever politicians to befool us.

what's good :-
1.stability of government
2.manmohan as PM again as he seems to be genuine person, no doubt abt that.
3.some new faces and may be fresh n younger ones in the cabinet.
4.getting rid of lalu, paswan n above all CPM.
what is bad:-
1.minority basing to continue and the majority hindus will be neglected as usual.
2.inflation feared to be high again.
3.same chamchagiri of Gandhi family to rein again. it seems as if India cant rise above Gandhi, it is high time to sail beyond it.
4.India's security at high stake again, the kasabs will smile again.
5.gulami to America as manmohan is well known for is pro americanism.
6.Corruption-no respite from it.
7. forget about the swiss bank black money phenomenum.

The exceptional victory of the Congress would usher in a new age of politics where the young leaders play a great role. This will discourage unscrupulous politicians drawing religion into the realm of public life.So much so parties like the BJP will gradually disappear from the peoples' minds if they continued to rake up the issues of Ram Mandir. I presume India is becoming politically mature!

Splendid performance!!! The credit goes to (1) Successfully implementing Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme throughout India - amazing feat (2) Waiver of Rs.60,000 crores plus exhibiting HUMANITY occupies top slot in scheme of things (3) Showing the middle class that stock markets can attain 21,000 index by nicely attracting FDI (4) Land prices kept on jumping (becoming double) every six months making land owners millionaires. For the future, inclusive growth should be given topmost priority aiming for getting rid of poverty and begging for ever!!!! Wishing the team all the very best. Let's hope "people dedicated to serve humanity" outshines others with every passing day in their efforts - Government should everything to mould the thinking of parliamentarians to become more and more humanitarian in outlook and deeds!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Finally, it happened what was being expected. UPA was being expected to rule once again and the results favoured them. Manmohan Singh is being awarded once again for his loyalty to the Congress party and Congress cheif. Even while being a Prime Minister he always announced his decision after getting Sonia's sanction. UPA's regime in last five years does not remained as much beneficial for the common man as it is being claimed by the rulers. Congress should now implement all pending decisions. Hanging of Afzal Guru, action against terrorism and its mentors across the border, inflation and so on. The Indians are still waiting for the Government to act on such decisions.

I am very disappointed by the results of this election as I had expected the BJP to win. But I guess the BJP went wrong in not highlighting the issue of internal security and inflation but stuck to other irrelevant issues. I hope the NDA discusses the reason for its loss and bounce back in the next elections. I don't really think it was the people's verdict as the voter turn out in most of the states was very scarce. This is a major issue that should be thought over.

Victory of congress is not on the development and secularism,it is fear of minority and dalit people to saffron parties across India.Since pre and post independance congress is only anoucing for better life of india but never implementing on said promise so it is pure..............fool

I expected that the UPA government will win but this is a major success for the Congress to become the single largest party without the allies. Now the government should first focus on the economic meltdown. i think Prime Minister of India,Mr Manmohan Singh and an economist himself will be able to handle it well. All the best to him and the UPA for a stable government.

The NDA lost a golden chance. had they not bothered about Advani alone and refrained petty gimmicks they could hane made a comeback and saved from India from this so called Psedo secularism. The results is good because atleast one party will be ruling this country. BJP is facing the serios leadership issue the same way Congress felt in 1996-97 beofre Sonia Gandhi. I want more mature politics. BJP does have some able ruler but they need to take the entire country along with them and more importantly all the religions. I somehow always feel that BJP should do well because they have nationalist leaders

Nothing surprising. It was expected, though the number of voters supporting the winners was a little bit more. The Govt which demamded to win support of the pooor by providing rice @ Rs.2/= in Orissa especially to all the households both BPL and APL, did not work so much as expected.
Majority of the BJD might result in autocracy . Bureaucrats and autocrats mightjoin hands and people would be exploited. There is none to save the people. The existence of the opposition in Orissa during the last tenure of the Assembly was seen and this time people's mandate in their support would cow down and bow down them to the Govt. May Almighty the God save the state.

During the last five years nothing seroiously attempted to eradicate rural poverty despite RLEGP which is mere half baked development project. Agriculture is still under recession there is absent of attempt on increase of output.
Moreover, cancerous problems like corruption are becoming a part of every day life.

Since the opposition parties were divided into NDA, third front, IV front etc, UPA has managed to capture power easily.Apart from that no major allegation to dislodge the UPA from recapturing power was not there.Hence, UPA easily regained power. As far as Tamil Nadu is concerned, the election has shown three alternative parties to choose from in the forthcoming assembly election:DMK, AIADMK and DMDK.But the role of money power that played and reached the people in Tamil Nadu was tremendous and you cannot even imagine it.

Systematic welfare measures of the UPA Government had led to the great victory. It was really a relief to the commoners in Kerala and Bengal. The arrogant CPM leaders had made te lives of the poor miserable. Injustice, corruption, allies with terrorists etc made life of the citizens miserable. The only relief was the wefare packages introduced by the central Government. We the Keralites were leading a life sans the essentials like educational facilities, job opportunities, food and so on. This political change is a blessing.

Finally the people has given their mandate for the 15th Lok Sabha poll. Yes, Congress has emerged as the majority. But, a new responsibilty has yet again began. The party should strive harder to provide safety, surity and elevation of poverty in India.North East remains still one of the neglected region, the party irrespective of political affliation should work for the overall upliftment of the region. India has to march on...and it has to take on North East along with it.

Religiosity in Armed Forces
Unlike the Pakistani army, the most important component of their country’s power structure, the Indian armed forces are ‘apolitical and secular,’ despite being a conglomeration of diversities in terms of religion, caste, region and language. The Indian soldierly traditions and discipline always kept the army away from politics and communal ideologies. Isolated incidents like Melagaon blast, involving few misguided officers, should be considered as a mere aberration. However in the recent elections, the major religious political party tried to woo the Indian army into their clutches, by offering a political platform that could accommodate all the dreams and aspirations of a soldier. BJP had conceptualized an agenda, with a very liberal economic package, in the pretext of removing the undesirable discontent created by the UPA government, among the members of the Armed Forces. The Indian Ex-servicemen Movement (IESM) has already fallen prey to this political game plan of creating a vote bank from the sizable population of soldiers and their family members. The inabilities of the UPA government to address the pending issues, like ‘one rank, one pension’, pay and privileges to the satisfaction level of the armed forces, making up of the shortages of man power at various levels, acquisition of essential military hardware and the up gradation of the DRDO, were cleverly identified by the BJP’s intelligentsia. Besides, an incentive-based promise of exempting the members of the armed forces from paying income tax, may tempt this neutral army to dangerously incline towards the ideology of this party.

Ethos of Secularism
The Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh’s reminder that all secular political parties have an obligation to work together, to give this country ‘a purposeful, secular government’ is quite meaningful at this juncture. In the present Indian context, secularism should imply the separation of the State from religion in general, from all faiths or from any particular religious order. In other words, Indian secularism should be based solely on regard to the well being of our entire citizens. The Indian concept of secularism, hence, gives freedom to all religious denominations to manage their religious affairs, peacefully co-exist and to develop tolerance and understanding for each other. The Indian State is not anti-religion, but respect all religions equally. No individual or group is discriminated against or in favour, on the basis of religious persuasion. This unique Indian sensibility has evolved from our composite culture that drew upon the best that every religion and ethnic group had to offer. Our political leaders will do well to remember that secularism is not a Western concept or a ‘gift of Christianity’ imposed on Indian society. It grew out of our past history and well established Hindu traditions of extending tolerance to and accepting co-existence with different groups and communities. All leaders and organizations with fundamental credentials must realize that the critical need of our country is to build confidence among the people, in respect to sincerity, belief and honesty regarding the ethos of secularism.

While the results seem to approve pseudo-secularism, institutionalized corruption, it also should pave the way for truely federal government without any bias towards centre or states.

The mandate appears to be the approval of the electorate for institutionalised corruption. The verdict paves the way for a goby to Indian traditions, culture and our vedic culture in the disguise of the secularism. The people who failed in the security of our territory have been voted back. only personal cherishmas and hero worship have overpowered the country's interests and security.

The result reflects the polity's lack of understanding that General Elections are meant to be fought on national issues not local issues, which predominated in this election.

10 crore voters are missing..
In 91 ,India's population was 84 crores ..
So in 2009 atleast there should be 80 crore people who are eligible for voting ..
but we have only 71 crore eligible voters..

Congress is making fool indian people last 60years. They are toking about poor people last 60 years and what they did dfor them they are still there as they were in 60 years back and again they become fool. I don't understand why they can't see the reality and I think unless until people wakeup and how long will take to them to understand. Congress again will going to give wrong signal to world and will bring us back to 1950again. It's just shame for indian people. Indian people should choose NDA if they care about development and bring India forward.Again It's just shame to have this government.

It is really disgusting that Congress has come back to power again. The inflation went so high because of Congress and one shudders to think about the state of affairs in the future! The sycophant of Sonia Gandhi becomes the PM again!

I know some of you may feel this is preposterous. But I am not campigning for any party.
But I feel the current government elected is a pseudo secular party whose ulterior motive is vote bank politics in order to blind the common man and does nothing for development and is incompetent when it comes to acting on terrorism.
This is probably a reason why there are more and more NRI's every day.
Even when the results are poor we the people have done nothing to act for change - Congratulations India, you have elected the Congress - RIP to moving ahead and dynamism.
The Times of India today said and I quote
"Terrorism we are told does not win or lose election results. The Middle Class feel strongly on the subject, but instead are happier building a group on Facebook, than demanding it as an electoral issue".
Which probably explains the mindset of the urban voter and the current election results.
