The Tower of London in London
The Tower of London, located on the eastern border London on the northern bank of the River Thames, is one of the most haunted places in the world. The 11th century Tower of London is the former political prison and place of execution. There are a number of ghost stories related to the Tower of London. According to one story, guards in the late 15th century, who were passing the stair in the Bloody Tower, spotted the shadows of two small figures gliding down the stairs. According to a report in the 13th century, the first ghost allegedly spotted in the building. One more story is that the ghost of Ann Boleyn, one of the wives of Henry VIII, who was beheaded in the Tower in 1536, has been spotted on many occasions, sometimes carrying her head.
