The English Patient: Won Nine Awards in the 69th Academy Awards
On the novel of the Sri Lankan-Canadian writer Michael Ondaatje, film The English Patient is a romantic drama film based on a story of love, fate, misunderstanding and healing before and during World War II. In the 69th Academy Awards in 1997, Anthony Minghella directed film The English Patient was nominated for 12 awards and walked away with nine Oscars. The awards were including Best Picture, Best Actress, Best Art Direction, Best Cinematography, Best Costume Design, Best Director, Best Film Editing, Best Original Score and Best Sound. Released on November 15, 1996, the 155 minutes long film The English Patient earned US$231,976,425 on the box office. This film starred Ralph Fiennes, Juliette Binoche, Willem Dafoe, Kristin Scott Thomas, Naveen Andrews and Colin Firth.
